SAR RR TECH 1 Evaluation assesses SAR volunteers ability to perform rope rescue operations in wildland situations. The evaluation will follow the Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) established curriculum as per the EMBC SAR Rope Rescue Manual Section 2: Rope Rescue Technician 1.
Through written and practical evaluation students will be assessed on their ability to build and operate a DCTTRS rope rescue system.

- Command & Communication
- Managing hazards and resources
- Ropes (knots, bends and hitches)
- Equipment familiarization
- Anchoring and rigging principles
- Force limiting, fall factors, force multipliers
- Patient packaging
- Simple mechanical advantage systems
- Dual capability two tensioned rope systems
- Edge management
- Low to steep embankment rescue scenarios
Students who opt to challenge the evaluation and are unsuccessful must complete the Instructional Course prior to any subsequent evalaution attempt(s).
